Author Guidelines for Blog Contributions

Thank you for your interest in contributing to the FUP blog. We welcome short, engaging posts that connect your book or research to timely issues, personal stories, or broader conversations in your field. Please follow the guidelines below as you prepare your post.

 General Guidelines:

• Length: 600–1,000 words

• Tone: Conversational, accessible, and engaging for a broad, educated audience (no academic jargon please)

• Focus: Posts should offer insight or context related to your book or research (think about what makes your work relevant now or what inspired it)

• Voice: First-person is welcome, especially when discussing your process, personal experiences, or the stakes of your work

Content Ideas:

• A behind-the-scenes look at writing your book

• A reflection on current events through the lens of your research

• A personal story that connects to your scholarship

• A response to something in the news or a public debate

• A list or “top 5” style post (e.g. “5 Things You Didn’t Know About…”)

Style Tips:

• Start strong: lead with a hook or a brief anecdote

• Keep paragraphs short (2–4 sentences)

• Include hyperlinks where appropriate (cite news articles other blog posts etc.)

Submission:

• Submit as a Word document to bkaobrien@fordham.edu

• Include a short bio (2–3 sentences) and your preferred author photo

Editing:

• All submissions are subject to light editorial review for clarity, length, and tone.
